Print Never Dies

Fun Fact: There was a time, when government used to hire individuals whose soul task was to light the lamps in the streets at evenings and kill it in the mornings.

But, you don’t see such individuals today. Why? Because of the fact, technology has evolved over the time. Mr. Edison’s invention; though brought revolution, also killed hundreds of jobs along the way. But it’s not that bad. Because it also created thousands of jobs instead.

There are many other examples which one can go through; Switch board operation is the best example. It is not relevant today.

But, one invention which survived the time is, print. Yes, print! Its history stretches back to 3000 BCE and before.

Undoubtedly Print Technology has changed / innovated over time. It’s more time-efficient than before. However, the main objective of it remained the same — paperclip for instance, we may change the colour or size, the objective and usage of it remains the same.

The main reason of print’s immortality is our need. We need printing, unlike the lanterns on streets. The uses of printing are infinite. Even though, digital age has somehow shifted the most of consumers to the digital screens, but hear me out.

The Device we buy comes in a package, that package is a product of printing.

You see, it is this simple. From Your beautiful iPad to the daily newspaper, all things need printing. This is no scholarly research article, however, my experience at Vantage Pakistan has been a surprisingly educational one.

I personally am optimistic when it comes to technology. And thought print is dead before joining as a web-developer at Vantage. I realised print is, in fact, still in its adolescence. There are new innovations taking place in print industry regarding the speed, size, and power. One such top innovators are Heidelberg, the giant which provides cutting edge technology to print companies.

If you come to think of it. It has just started, 3D-Printing. Along with this, there are different types of printing methods. It would take another 400 article to talk about those.

Since, I don’t want you to get bored, I will close this topic. If you have any queries, you might ask me in comments or follow me on twitter or Vantage on Facebook.
